Office of International Affairs holds 'Mongolia Day' at Global Lounge

Various programs conducted with sponsorship of the Mongolian Embassy, Mongolia Ulaanbaatar Culture Promotion Center

Hosted by the Yonsei University Office of International Affairs (OIA) and organized by its affiliated club Yonsei Global(YG) and Association Mongolian Students at Yonsei(AMSY), the "Global Day for the Fall 2023 Semester" was held  at Global Lounge, The Commons and in front of the Student Union Building on November 16 and 17 under the theme of Mongolian culture

The theme of this semester's Global Day was "Mongolia Day" with various programs to experience Mongolian culture such as Mongolian traditional writing, Mongolian Naadam Festival games ( bow shooting, horse running, (finger) wrestling), Mongolian food culture experience (tasting Mongolian dumplings, dairy arols, and Mongolian juice tasting), the quiz on knowledge about Mongolia, Mongolian traditional games (Shagai, Shatar), Mongolian cultural booths at the Mongolia Ulaanbaatar Culture Promotion Center, Mongolian cashmere and traditional clothing exhibition, and 'Ger' photo zone in front of the Student Union Building.

Mongolia Day for the second semester of 2023 was planned from the beginning of the semester under the support of the Office of International Affairs in collaboration with Mongolian international students from the Mongolian International Student Association and Yonsei Global Day team members. With the efforts of students and the support of the Global One-Stop Service Center, it was significant that visitors were able to enjoy a richer global day event with the sponsorship of various organizations such as the Mongolian Embassy in Korea, the Mongolia Ulaanbaatar Culture Promotion Center, and companies such as the book publication Blue Scent ("That Year," by Shin Mi-young), and the Mongolian cashmere store EVSEG. Visitors who participated in more than five of the various booths at the venue were given the opportunity to get Mongolian-related products through a lottery.

A total of 1,000 people visited in two days, making the Global Day for the fall 2023 semester successful.

Global Day is a representative event that helps Yonsei University students actively interact with diverse cultures and broaden their perspectives on the world. It is held regularly twice a year.
